We care about your data.
This policy describes how Telion collects, uses, and protects information about you when you use our team management platform. Please read it carefully.
1. Who We Are
Telion is a team management platform designed for competitive robotics programs, including FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams. References to “Telion,” “we,” “us,” or “our” throughout this policy refer to the operators of the Telion platform.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when you create an account or use the platform, including your name, email address, and any profile information you choose to add. We also collect information generated through your use of the platform, such as task activity, attendance records, skill assessments, and messages sent within the platform.
We may collect basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, and app version for the purpose of maintaining service reliability and diagnosing issues.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to operate and improve the Telion platform, including providing team management features, facilitating communication among team members, and maintaining platform security.
We reserve the right to use anonymized, aggregated data — data that cannot identify any individual and cannot be traced back to a single person — for any purpose, including product improvement, research, and analytics. This data will never constitute personally identifiable information (PII) as defined by applicable law.
4. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, trade, license, or otherwise provide your personal information to any third party for their commercial purposes. Your personal data is not a product.
We may share information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating the platform (such as cloud infrastructure providers), but only to the extent necessary to provide those services, and only under contractual obligations of confidentiality. These providers are not permitted to use your information for any other purpose.
5. Law Enforcement and Legal Requests
We will comply with all lawful requests from law enforcement agencies and government authorities. If we receive a legally valid request — such as a subpoena, court order, or warrant — that compels disclosure of your information, we will comply with that request.
Where we are legally permitted to do so, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users of such requests prior to disclosure. However, we cannot guarantee advance notice in all circumstances, including where we are legally prohibited from doing so.
6. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a security breach that results in the unauthorized access, acquisition, or disclosure of your personal information, we will notify affected users as soon as reasonably practicable after we become aware of the breach. Notification will be provided through the contact information associated with your account and/or through in-app notice.
We will also comply with any applicable legal obligations regarding breach notification to regulatory authorities.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data storage and transmission and access controls.
No system is completely secure. While we take the protection of your data seriously, we cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use strong, unique passwords for your account.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain it by law or where retention is necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
9. Children's Privacy
Telion is used by competitive robotics teams, which may include members under the age of 13. Where a minor's account is created, we rely on the team administrator — typically an adult coach or mentor — to obtain any necessary parental or guardian consent in accordance with applicable law, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable. Because of this, all student contact information is optional for account creation. We expect the team administrator to notify and instruct parents, guardians, and children in appropriate ways to utilize contact information. We also allow administrators of the team to block the sharing of contact information on the platform.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization. If you believe we have collected such information without proper consent, please contact us immediately. We will remove any unlawful information.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below. We will respond to all requests in accordance with applicable law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify users through the platform and update the effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of Telion after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
